GPT-6 and Intelligent UI in ChatGPT: what changes at work?
GPT-6 brings Intelligent UI to ChatGPT: visual responses, comparisons and interactive tools. Rollouts, limits and useful tests for Italian SMEs.
Reading time: 13 min

GPT-6 Intelligent UI brings in ChatGPT responses that may include visual comparisons and interactive tools, in addition to the text. The novelty announced by OpenAI on October 7, 2026 is about how to explore and use an answer: a comparison can become a navigable view, a calculation a small tool within the conversation. The reference is the GPT-6 and Intelligent UI official announcement.
For those who work in an SME, the value to be verified is concrete: does this form help to understand a choice and to control its assumptions? In this guide we propose tests on quotes, suppliers and internal training. They are hypothetical scenarios, not test results carried out by Giallo. The AI review of 2–8 October 2026 links the ad to the context of the week.
In summary
- An interactive response is useful when it makes it easier to explore data, hypotheses, and alternatives.
- The release is about the Chat experience: model, interface and API remain aspects to distinguish.
- Before you trust a calculator, verify formula, units, missing values, and limit cases.
- A prototype in conversation helps define an application, but requires additional verification for business use.
- The visual form must make the uncertainty visible, without filling the absent information.
Who does Intelligent UI get to and which version of GPT-6 does it use?
OpenAI indicates a global rollout from October 7 for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise, with expansion to Free and Go from October 8. Close-ups use GPT-6 Sol in the announced experience; Free and Go use Luna. For Enterprise, administrator settings also count. It is information of the launch announcement, to be read as progressive distribution.
The ChatGPT release notes They also specify that Intelligent UI is available from Instant to Extra High. The Reasoning Pro option continues to use Astra and does not support this UI. The ChatGPT Pro subscription and the Pro option of the model are two different things: having the first doesn't mean you always have to use the second.
To organize a test in the office, then write down the account, environment, date, and settings used. If a person does not see the same function, do not immediately attribute the problem to the prompt. First check the account conditions and updated notes. This guide does not verify activation on each Italian account and does not promise a precise day for each user.
The general comparison between plans is in the guide to Free ChatGPT and Plus. Here the goal is more specific: to understand what changes when the answer can take an interactive form and what criteria to use to judge it in everyday work.
What is the difference between model, interface and API?
The model is the component that processes the request; the interface is how you work with the result; the API is the channel that an application can use to integrate a service. Confusing these levels leads to unclear decisions: seeing a tool in ChatGPT does not alone describe how to insert it into your management software.
| Level to be assessed | Useful question for the company | Test to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Model Quality | Does he understand the problem and use the sources well? | Cases with verifiable response |
| Interactive interface | Does it help to explore and control alternatives? | Input variations and hypothesis reading |
| API Integration | Can you enter the process with permissions and controls? | Data flow and expected results |
| Business Application | Who keeps it and who can act? | Responsibility, access and error management |
The October 7 update concerns the Chat tab; OpenAI specifies that Work and Codex models do not change with this release. The distinction is explicit in official announcement. You should therefore not use this news as evidence of new API performance or new capabilities in any OpenAI environment.
For pricing and the characteristics of the families, see the detailed article on GPT-6 Sol and Luna pricing. For the difference between using a chat and building an integration, the guide to AI API is the next step. This article focuses on working with the answer, without repeating those comparisons.
When does a visual response really help you make a decision?
We propose a practical criterion: use interaction when you need to explore multiple conditions while keeping the link between input and result visible. If a question has a short, stable answer, adding controls can increase work. If you have to compare combinations, a editable view can help formulate better questions.
Think of a quote. The final figure alone does not explain what happens if quantities, times or services are changed included. A useful test makes these variables explicit and shows which ones depend on the user. The point to check is not how many items appear on the screen, but whether you can reconstruct the decision.
The same goes for a comparison. A supplier with a missing data should not appear to be equivalent to one declaring an unfavourable condition. The interface must keep both cases visible. If the result compresses them into a single score, ask to show the detail before using it to choose.
For the test, distinguish data, assumptions and preferences. Data comes from sources; assumptions complete a simulation and need to be declared; preferences express what matters most to your business. A readable comparison must allow a colleague to understand which category each element belongs to.
How to build a vendor comparison that doesn't hide missing data?
Hypothetical scenario: a service company must choose a provider for periodic intervention. It has offers with different perimeters, some accessory items and conditions not always explicit. The first request to ChatGPT is to extract the information, without assigning a ranking.
Then you can ask for a visual view that separates stated cost, services included, exclusions and information to be clarified. The user must be able to change the priority between the criteria, but the weight chosen must not turn an absent information into an invented value. This requirement should be written in the prompt and checked in the result.
A prompt to adapt:
Prepare a visual comparison of the offers I enclose. First extract the data with reference to the document. Separates declared data, missing information, and my preferences. Do not create scores on absent data. If you can create interactive controls, let me change the priority of the criteria by showing how the comparison changes. Do not choose instead of me and do not infer conditions that are not present.
The phrase "if you can" makes the prompt usable even when the function is not available on the account: the result can remain a table. The quality criterion remains the same. A simple comparison with clear sources is more useful than a rich view that does not allow to trace the offers.
For long documents or numerous attachments, define which ones are valid and which versions to ignore. ChatGPT for document analysis helps to prepare this step. In the end, at least check the conditions that might change the choice, bringing you back to the original source before approval.
How to try a calculator for quotes without using it blindly?
According to hypothetical scenario: a technical study wants to explore how the amounts of a proposal change as the expected hours and activities included change. The first step is to write the formula in understandable words. Only then do you ask for a calculator, using fabricated data for the initial test.
For example, the simulation total can be defined as hours per rate plus declared external costs. If there are discounts, taxes or other rules, they must be specified and verified by the competent persons before representing them. Do not ask the model to decide for itself which trade or tax rules apply.
Prompt proposed:
Create a small calculator for an internal simulation. Formula: scheduled hours multiplied by hourly rate, plus external costs. Use example values, declared as hypothetical. Show formula, unit and result. Do not add taxes or discounts. Report empty fields and negative values. Accompany the instrument with verification cases and with the limits I need to check before use.
Testing starts from easy to calculate cases without AI: zero hours, no external costs, modified rate, an empty field. It continues with values at the limit of the intended perimeter. If an input changes, ask to show the calculation step; check the result even with a separate tool.
Keep a version of the approved formula and note which view has been verified. If you make subsequent changes to the prompt, repeat the test cases: a change of presentation could accompany a change of rules. For tasks that need to remain in a shared sheet, also delve ChatGPT for Excel and Google Sheets.
How to use interaction in internal training?
A third use to experiment with is explaining a procedure to those who join the team. Imagine a path of taking charge of a request: data control, department choice, verification of an exception and closure. First prepare the approved procedure; then ask for an explorable explanation for cases.
The prompt can say: “Only use this procedure. Present one case at a time, ask me which passage I would choose and explain the correct reference. Don't make up exceptions. If a case is not covered, it signals the need to ask the person in charge." Quality is assessed by comparing explanations and rules, not just on the pleasantness of the experience.
Always expect a return to the full version of the document. A drill can help you understand, but the employee must be able to find the original rule and know who solves a doubt. Also check the lexicon: a department name interpreted differently by two colleagues indicates that the source material requires a clearer definition.
To explore other uses of generated interfaces, the editorial comparison is with Google Playground and AI games. They are different paths, connected by the idea of trying a concrete interaction. In The Lab find additional interactive examples to help you define how a tool should behave in your context.
A tab to evaluate the answer before sharing it
It controls five points: each important data has a source; hypotheses are distinct from data; modifiable inputs are recognizable; limit cases produce an understandable outcome; another person can explain how the result is achieved. If a point is missing, ask for a review before using the view in a decision or share it with the team.
What mistakes to avoid with a UI generated in the conversation?
The first is to exchange a convincing form for a verification. An interactive control can make an error easier to use. For this, in comparison suppliers need sources; in the computer they need formulas; in training they need approved rules. The underlying problem is the same, even if the aspect of the answer changes.
The second mistake is to let the missing data disappear. Ask for an explicit outcome for each important absence. The third is to modify many conditions at the same time and not know what changed the result. In the first tests, it varies one element at a time and preserves the comparison with the starting case.
The fourth is to treat the prototype as a ready-made application for customers and colleagues. Before stable use, you need choices about access, data, retention, controls, maintenance, and error management. The fifth is to insert company material without having decided what information is allowed: define the perimeter before attaching the files.
If the need concerns a repeated flow between multiple systems, it also evaluates a dedicated integration. Claude Haiku 5.5 addresses a different and complementary problem: assigning delimited tasks to a model via API. To organize adoption by the team, go back to driving at ChatGPT for companies.
What question to start with to turn proof into a useful tool?
Choose a question that today requires you to compare alternatives or redo a calculation. Write down what decision needs to become clearer, what sources you can use and what will remain to the person. Then ask for the most suitable form, without imposing interactivity if it does not add value. Test the result first with hypothetical data, then in the authorized perimeter.
The goal of the test is an understandable specification: what inputs are needed, what rule is applied, what results are shown and when the process has to stop. If you want to turn this specification into a shared tool, we develop tailored software from the behavior you have validated, with controls and responsibilities defined for real use.

What is GPT-6 Intelligent UI in ChatGPT?
Intelligent UI is the ability announced on October 7, 2026 with which ChatGPT can compose visual and interactive responses, such as comparisons and calculators. It serves to work with an answer inside the conversation; it does not certify the correctness of the data shown.
When does Intelligent UI arrive in Italy?
OpenAI indicates a global rollout from October 7, 2026 for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise and from October 8 for Free and Go. It is a progressive distribution: it does not prove that the function is already present on every Italian account. Enterprise settings can condition access.
Is the new UI also about Work and Codex?
The announcement concerns ChatGPT’s Chat experience. OpenAI specifies that the Work and Codex models do not change with this release. Consult the respective updated notes for features in those environments.
Is Intelligent UI available with the Reasoning Pro option?
The official notes indicate Intelligent UI from Instant to Extra High. The Reasoning Pro option continues to use GPT-6 Astra and does not support it. The Pro option of the model should not be confused with the ChatGPT Pro subscription.
Can a calculator generated by ChatGPT immediately become a business app?
It can help define and test the desired behavior. Before using it as a business application you need verifications on calculations, data, permissions, retention and maintenance, as well as an appropriate publication path.
How to assess whether an interactive response is useful?
Check whether the data is traceable, the assumptions are visible, and the result changes correctly when you edit an input. Then compare the decision you got with the one you could justify using the original sources.
