AI for electricians: request for wallbox, photovoltaic practice and deadlines of grounding checks ordered by an assistant

The AI for Electricians It serves mainly before and after the work on the painting. First, when a vague request comes along like "I'd like to put the column in the garage" and it takes five questions to figure out if it's half a day's work or a practice with the administrator. After, when the plant works but there are statements, communications and deadlines that the customer forgets and that it is often up to you to remember.

The trade has one advantage: many rules are written. The D.M. 37/2008 says when the scheme of the technical manager is enough and when the project of a professional is needed, DPR 462/2001 fixes how often a company has to have the grounding verified, the GSE describes the path of a small photovoltaic. Written rules means controllable rules: an AI assistant can compare them with any request and report any doubtful cases to you before they become a problem on site.

In summary

  • Before the inspection the assistant collects the data that changes the work: engaged power, type of property, surface, private box or condominium parking place.
  • With that data he reports when the D.M. 37/2008 asks for the project of a professional registered on the register instead of the scheme of the technical manager.
  • For a wallbox in the condominium decides the assembly; if it does not deliberate within three months of the written request, the condominium can install at its own expense.
  • Periodic verification of grounding is an employer's obligation: reminding them of it is a service that takes you back to the companies you follow.
  • Small photovoltaics pass from the Unique Model in two parts, before and after the work: AI prepares the data, the signatures remain of the manufacturer and the enterprise.

"I would like a wallbox in the garage": the questions to ask before moving the van

The request comes on WhatsApp or from the website form and is almost always incomplete. The customer knows what car he bought, he rarely knows what supply contract he has or how many meters separate the box from the meter. An AI assistant can ask the questions for you, one at a time, with the lexicon of those who know the job: power engaged in bill, presence of induction plane or heat pump, property box or condominium parking place, a picture of the picture and one of the path of the cables. How to set up a form that asks questions instead of asking everything together we explain it in the article on chatbot for the company site.

The answers change the job and the cards. If the customer requests an increase in power committed after an intervention on the plant, the D.M. 37/2008 requires that he hand over to the distributor or seller the copy of the declaration of conformity; the same applies when the increase, even without works, brings the user to 6 kW or to the levels for which the project is needed (Art. 8, paragraph 3). An assistant who knows this rule writes it in the summary that sends you, so you get to the site already knowing which cards will be needed.

Owned Box or Garage

  • Decides the customer: you evaluate dedicated line, protections and available power.
  • The assistant collects bill, picture of the picture and distance from the counter.
  • The estimate can start after only one inspection.

Parking space in condominium

  • The works approve the assembly, with the majorities of Article 1136 of the Civil Code.
  • If the condominium refuses or does not deliberate within three months of the written request, the condominium may install at its own expense.
  • The assistant immediately asks the administrator's contact and if the written request has already started.

The rule about condominium is in the Article 17-quinquies of Decree-Law 83/2012, which is without prejudice to the use of the common parts provided for in Article 1102 of the Civil Code. It's not a matter for a chatbot to interpret. Ask the assistant one thing: to prevent you from finding out on the spot that the deliberation is not there.

Professional project or technical manager scheme: the threshold that AI can control

For installation, transformation and extension of an electrical system, a project is needed. The practical question is who draws it up: in the cases listed by the D.M. 37/2008 it serves a professional registered on the register, in the others the technical manager of the enterprise can do it, and for him the minimum elaboration is the scheme of the plant (Art. 5 and Art. 7). The perimeter is wider than the customer imagines: the decree includes the automation of doors, gates and barriers and, to the letter b, antennas, systems for TV signals, telephone and data, fiber optics included (Art. 1).

Situation described by the customer Who draws up the project (Rule 5(2)) What the assistant asks to understand
Single dwelling up to 6 kW of power engaged and up to 400 sq.m. The technical manager of the company Power in bill, square meters
Single home over 6 kW or over 400 sq.m. Professional registered on the register The same questions, plus planned extensions
Common parts of an apartment building Professional, for all condominium utilities Administrator name, type of work
Store, office or laboratory in low voltage over 6 kW or over 200 m2, or powered over 1000 V Professional Destination of use, surface area, type of supply
Rooms for medical use, in danger of explosion or at increased risk of fire Professional What activity takes place in the premises
Protection from atmospheric discharges in buildings over 200 mc Professional Volume of building

The assistant doesn't decide. Compare the data collected with these cases and, if the request touches one, put it at the top of the summary with the line of the decree that triggers it. If you often work with a studio that signs projects, the same card can start towards him already compiled: how to organize those on the other side we tell in the article on the AI for Technical Studies.

Small Photovoltaic: The Unique Model in Two halves

For photovoltaics that follow the simplified procedure of the Unico Model, provided for by the decree of 19 May 2015 and updated by Legislative Decree 199/2021, the manufacturer only interfaces with the network manager (GSE News). The route has fixed moments, which the GSE describes in the page dedicated to Network Managers.

  1. Before work. The network manager acquires from the manufacturer, with Part 1 of the Unique Model, a defined set of plant information.
  2. During the works. Make the plant and any works for the connection; at the end of the work release the declaration of conformity as for each electricity production plant.
  3. Finished work. The manager acquires Part 2, records the plant on the Gaudi portal in Terna and transmits the data to the GSE.
  4. Dedicated retreat. The GSE activates the contract and sends the code and link to the manufacturer to consult it; the contract starts from the date of activation of the connection communicated by the operator.

AI enters the collection, which is the part that slows down. An assistant sends the client a list of what you will ask, reads the documents he sends back, reports the missing or unreadable ones and prepares a draft of the fields to be rechecked. The models are signed by the manufacturer; peak power, inverters and schematics are verified by you. The document reading mechanism is what you find in how to analyze business documents with AI.

Grounding in the companies you serve: a customer deadline that brings you back to the company

When you build a company's grounding plant, your verification and declaration of conformity allow it to be put into operation, and the declaration is valid as an approval (DPR 462/2001, Article 2). From there the obligations pass to the employer. Within 30 days of putting into operation he must send the declaration to INAIL, which has assumed the functions of the former ISPESL mentioned in the text, and to the competent ASL or ARPA, as explained by the INAIL Technical Guide. Then he must have the plant checked every five years, or every two years in the yards, in the premises for medical use and in the environments at greatest risk in case of fire (Art. 4).

You do not perform the inspection yourself. The employer contacts the ASL, the ARPA or an authorised body, and must electronically notify INAIL of the body appointed (Art. 7-bis). The online service CIVA, active since 2020, also allows communication to the delegates of the legal representative, including installer (INAIL Notice).

Here the assistant has a simple and profitable task. It reads the minutes of your customers' latest verifications, even in scanned PDFs, extracts date, type of environment and periodicity and builds a timeline log. A few months earlier he writes to the client to remind him of the verification and ask him if the body has already been communicated; if the report reports anomalies, he proposes to fix an inspection to correct them. To extract data from all the same documents is worth what we explain on the data entry automation.

Two weeks of requests, seen by the assistant

The residential electrician. Think of a tradesperson working alone on houses and apartment buildings. Over two weeks, for example, they receive three requests for wallboxes, a video intercom replacement, two fault reports and a villa renovation. The assistant asks everyone the necessary questions. One wallbox is in a privately owned garage and immediately becomes a site visit; another is in a shared building's parking space, and the customer learns that they must first write to the building manager. The third would take the electricity supply above 6 kW, so the summary reminds them about the copy of the declaration to provide to the distributor. The villa exceeds 400 square metres: the top of the record states that a professional's design is required.

The small business with four installers. They serve industrial buildings, offices and a couple of medical practices. The assistant has read the earthing inspection reports of all the clients and knows that two medical practices have their biennial inspection due in November. It writes to the owners, attaches the list of bodies they have already used and asks whether they want to delegate communication through CIVA to the company. Meanwhile, for the renovation of a 250 square metre office, it prepares the information sheet for the technical practice with which the company collaborates.

The answers an assistant doesn't have to give to an electrician's client

  • "With his counter the wallbox fits." You only know after seeing loads, line and picture. The assistant collects data, the confirmation is yours.
  • Instructions on how to get your hands in the picture. No "just change the differential". The only text for emergencies is what you wrote, and usually says don't touch anything and wait.
  • "Its plant is up to standard." A photo is not a verification. On compliance is expressed who made the proofs and signs the statement.
  • "In the apartment building there is no need for assembly." It depends on the case and the common parts involved: the chatbot refers back to the administrator.
  • "We do periodic verification." For company earthing systems, the ASL, ARPA or an authorised body carries it out. You can prepare the installation and help with communications.

A note on data: photos of paintings, floor plans and minutes tell a lot about a house or a company. Choose tools with clear rules on storage and access, as we explain in the guide on AI and Data Security.

Start with the request you receive most often — for many businesses today, that is a wallbox — and write down the questions you always ask on the phone. They become the assistant’s script. At the same time, collect the earthing inspection reports for business clients in a spreadsheet: even without automation, having all deadlines in one place is already a service you can sell. After a month, review how many summaries were complete and which questions were missing, then adjust the script. If you also install heating systems, many ideas apply to boilers too, as we explain in the article on AI for Plumbers.

The page AI for SMEs collects the projects that work best in small businesses. If you want an assistant who asks these questions with your rules and your price list, and who gives you every request ready for the inspection, we design it as Custom AI Agent Starting with the requests you actually receive.

FAQ

Can an AI assistant tell the customer if a power increase is needed for the wallbox?

It can gather the data needed to assess this: the contracted power shown on the electricity bill, significant existing loads, and the distance between the distribution board and parking space. From that data it flags likely cases, but the answer to the customer comes after your site inspection. If the power increase follows work on the installation, the client must give the distributor or supplier a copy of the declaration of conformity.

Can AI identify when a design by a registered professional is required?

It can compare collected data, such as property type, contracted power, floor area, and the presence of special premises, with the cases listed in Article 5 of D.M. 37/2008. When a request falls into one of those cases, it states this at the top of the summary it sends you. The final assessment remains the installation company’s responsibility.

Can I use AI to remind customers about grounding checks?

Yes, and it is a useful service to the companies you follow. The assistant reads the last report, records the date and periodicity provided for by DPR 462/2001, which is five years or two for construction sites, medical premises and environments at greater risk of fire, and notifies the customer in advance. The verification is performed by the ASL, the ARPA or a qualified body, not the installer.

Who communicates to INAIL the body chosen for periodic verifications?

The employer is responsible, under Article 7-bis of DPR 462/2001. INAIL’s online CIVA service also allows delegates of the legal representative, including the installer, to do this. An assistant can prepare the data and provide a reminder about the notification; submission remains with the authorised delegate.

Can AI complete the Modello Unico form for a small photovoltaic system?

It can collect documents from the client and prepare a draft of the data for Part 1, before work starts, and Part 2, when work is complete. The forms go through the grid operator and are signed by the electricity producer. You check power ratings, inverters, and technical data before submission.

Can a resident install a wallbox if the condominium assembly does not decide?

Decree-Law 83/2012 provides that if the condominium refuses or fails to pass a resolution within three months of the written request, the resident concerned may install the devices at their own expense. An assistant can immediately ask whether the written request has been sent and who the building administrator is. Legal questions go to the administrator or a lawyer.
