AI-powered app development

AI features that save your app's users time: reading a delivery note, answering questions using your manuals and turning a voice note into tasks. We also use AI to build the app, with coding agents and a person reviewing every change.

Demo of three AI app features: the camera reads a delivery note and fills in a goods receipt record for confirmation; an assistant answers a technical question and cites the manual page; a voice note is transcribed into a task list with deadlines.

Artificial intelligence app development: what it means

It means two things: adding AI features that save your app's users time, and using coding agents to build it faster while a person reviews every change. Giallo Studio does both and publishes the app on the App Store and Google Play.

AI functions in the app
Assistant on your documents, data read from photos and PDFs, entry that becomes task, search that understands questions.
Prototypes already made
If you started it with Lovable, Bolt, Cursor or Claude we complete it: login, database, security, GDPR, testing and store.
One base, three platforms
Next.js, React and TypeScript brought to iOS and Android with Capacitor, plus a PWA. Native modules where needed.
What Remains Yours
Code, store accounts, and AI vendor accounts remain in your name.

AI features in an app, beyond chat

Start by asking which repeated task you can remove for the app's users. The answer usually falls into one of these four features.

In all four cases, AI prepares the output, a person confirms what matters, and the app clearly identifies AI responses. If the assistant also takes action, such as opening a ticket, the relevant approach is AI agents; for employee apps connected to your business management software, see our Tailored Business Apps.

For those who have already started

Built your app with Lovable, Bolt, Cursor or Claude?

We bring it to production and to stores.

You have reached the stage that blocks many people: seeing your idea work. The next question is whether it can handle a thousand users, an intermittent connection and a thorough Apple reviewer. Below are the foundations it needs, which prototypes often lack.

7/7

Ready for the App Store and Google Play.

  1. Authentication

Working authentication, password recovery, expiring sessions and in-app account deletion, which Apple requires when an app allows account creation (Guideline 5.1.1).
  2. Database and backup

Rules on who can read and edit what, line by line. Automatic backups and a restore test: a backup never restored is just a hope.
  3. Security and Keys

API keys stay on the server, where app users cannot extract them. We apply request limits, keep libraries updated and keep secrets out of the code. The reason matters: a test by Veracode 2025 out of over one hundred models, the generated code contained known security flaws in 45% of the test cases.
  4. GDPR

Privacy notices, consent, data processing agreements (DPA) with providers and European data hosting where required. Explicit permission before sending personal data to external AI is also required by Apple since November 2025 (Guideline 5.1.2).
  5. Tests

Automatic tests on steps that never have to break: registration, payment, saving. Plus tests on real phones, not just in the computer browser.
  6. Performance

Fast startup, lightweight images, smooth scrolling through long lists and an app that keeps working when the connection is intermittent.
  7. Store Account and Review

Apple Developer Program and Google Play Console headed to you, store tabs, privacy labels, demo accounts for reviewers and, for new personal Google accounts, the test closed with 12 testers for 14 days. Details are in the pages on App Store and Google Play.

A wrapped site does not pass

Apple calls for an app to go beyond a "repackaged" site (guideline 4.2): need real app functions, such as notifications, camera, offline use. Apps produced by a service that generates apps pass only if they are published by those who provide their content (4.2.6), which is why we publish with your account. The step-by-step review is on the page on iOS app; if the app does not need app store distribution, a PWA.

We've been there.

With Athleex, the personal trainer platform we brought up App Store and Google Play, we went through Apple's full review process, including rejections: in-app purchases (3.1.1), subscription terms (3.1.2) and demo accounts for reviewers (2.1).

The Case Athleex

With your prototype

  1. We open it up and run it, in the free audit.

  2. We tell you what to keep and what to do again, with the reason.

  3. We complete it at a fixed price and publish it with your accounts.

AI-assisted app development: the agent writes, a person signs off

In Giallo Studio, much of the code is written by programming agents such as Claude Code. People do the rest: they write the specifications, decide the architecture and review every change before it enters the project. Nothing comes into production without testing and without human review.

You see prototypes in days rather than weeks, with more time spent on the foundations of a working app: data, security and user experience.

We use vibe coding — describing an idea and letting a model write the code — to explore a concept in an afternoon. Code published in the stores follows the review rule above.

What research says, without typhus

−55,8%time , GitHub, 2022In a controlled experiment published by GitHub, users of Copilot finished a limited task, a web server in JavaScript, 55.8% faster (Peng and others, 2023).

+19%of time , METR, 2025The firm METR of 2025 involving experienced developers working on their own projects found the opposite: with early-2025 tools, they took 19% longer. Theupdate of 2026 indicates a gain, with a still wide margin of uncertainty.

AI speeds up work when it is clearly specified and reviewed. The method matters more than the tool.

AI API costs in an app: estimate usage before building

AI functions are paid for on consumption. The model provider bills the tokens, i.e. the pieces of text that enter and exit, with a price per million published in the official price lists of Anthropic, OpenAI and Google. AI does not have one fixed cost: the total is a multiplication.

Before writing code we count on your case with the price lists of the day; in production we set spending caps and limits per user from the consoles of the suppliers. Consumption remains in your name, without reloading. Development and recurring costs are on the page how much it costs to develop an app.

GDPR and the AI Act: where data goes when your app uses AI

Our first rule: the app accesses the model through your server. The server holds the keys, removes unnecessary data and logs requests. We then choose where to run the model according to the sensitivity of the data.

The data passes from your server, which takes away what is not needed, and arrives at the vendor model, bound by a contract (DPA).

The most common choice. With commercial APIs Anthropic and OpenAI do not use customer data to train models, unless consent; Google excludes it for Gemini's paid services, the only one that admits to used apps in Europe. Where the provider offers it, processing takes place in Europe.
Apple (Foundation Models, from iOS 26) and Google (Gemini Nano) provide on-device models: the data stays on the device and there is no token-based usage charge. These small models run only on recent phones and suit tasks such as summarisation and classification, rather than every use case.
For very sensitive data or high volumes: an open weight model on your server or in an EU data center. Maximum data control, more management work.

AI Act

If an app includes an assistant that interacts with people, from 2 August 2026 it must clearly identify itself as AI, and generated content must be recognisable (Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689). High-risk uses, such as personnel selection or credit assessment, have heavier obligations since 2 December 2027 (Regulation (EU) 2026/1744). The complete calendar is in the guide AI Act, when it comes into force.

GDPR

A privacy notice naming the provider and its purpose, a data processing agreement (DPA) appointing it as a processor, and an up-to-date record of processing activities. For the full picture, see the guide to AI and GDPR.

App Store

Since November 2025, Apple has been asking to state where personal data ends, even when it goes to a third-party AI, and to have the explicit permission of the user before sending it (Guideline 5.1.2).

Google Play

Apps that generate AI content must let users report offensive content without leaving the app (rules for AI-generated content).

Questions about AI in apps

The ones that really make us, with the answers we'd give on the call.

What AI models are built into the apps?

We can integrate Claude Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5, Haiku 5.5 and Fable 5.1, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Astra through the backend. The choice depends on the function: classify, read documents or coordinate tools. First we try out abnormal data and cases, then we set consumption and access limits; the API keys remain on the server.

Can an app made with Lovable, Bolt, Cursor or Claude be published on stores?

Yes, if it passes the review. Apple and Google don't reject an app because the code wrote it an AI: they reject it if it's just a repackaged site (Apple's 4.2 guideline), if account deletion is missing, if privacy does not return or if reviewers do not have a demo account. We complete the prototype on these points and publish it with your accounts. The rules of the two stores are in the pages on App Store and Google Play.

Better an AI builder or a development studio?

An AI builder works very well for validating an idea and costs little. Once real users, personal data, payments or business management software are involved, someone needs to take responsibility for security, backups and publishing. You can start with a builder and bring the project to us as it grows: the price ranges for both approaches are in how much does it cost to develop an app.

What AI functions can you put into an app?

The most requested: an assistant who answers on business documents citing the source, reading data from photos and PDFs, the entry that becomes text and tasks, a search that understands questions. If the assistant also has to act, for example open a ticket, we are talking about AI agents.

How much do AI APIs cost per month?

Depends on the use: users, requests, text length and model. Before developing we estimate the consumption on your case with the price lists of the day; in production we put spending caps and limits per user. The step by step calculation is in the guide to cost of AI API.

Does my data end up inside the models?

With commercial APIs no: Anthropic and OpenAI do not use customer data to train models, unless explicitly consented, and Google excludes it for Gemini's paid services. Attenzione ai piani gratuiti, che hanno regole diverse. Per i dati più delicati si usa un modello sul telefono o un modello aperto su server europei.

Does AI shorten the time? Does the code remain legible and mine?

Prototypes arrive in days instead of weeks; for the app in production they count integrations, testing and review of stores, which AI does not skip. The code goes from the same revision as the one written by hand and lies in a repository named after you: if you change providers one day, the ones who arrive find a normal project, not a black box.

Do you do vibe coding?

Yes, to explore an idea quickly. For code that goes to stores no: there every change has a specification, tests and a person who revises it.
